Sometimes the best vacations involve not going anywhere. During the holidays, beaches, resorts, mountains, and more are crowded with tourists that suffocate the place. Many seem to agree as the staycationing trend has been seeing its popularity continuously increase since the 90s.But what interesting things can be done while in the city to make a staycation worthwhile?
Our busy lives leave us little time to enjoy ourselves and watch the numerous TV shows and films coming out each day. Catching up all at once via a marathon is a great way to spend the time and finally understand why other people are so hyped up about their favorite movie or series.
Go on a Drive
The most amazing thing in the city during the holidays is the roads. While everyone is on vacation, nobody is commuting and the normally crowded streets are literally empty. Smile like a kid as you drive from one end of EDSA to another in less than half an hour.
See the City Sights
The roads aren’t the only things free of the crowds. The city’s many attractions are also quiet. Take a quiet stroll on Manila’s Baywalk during sunset, visit the National Museum, or identify the scattered artworks in UP Diliman. Eat at the hot new restaurant that you could never enter because it’s always crowded. If you came by car, you will have no trouble finding parking.
One of the main reasons for going outside the city is to relax away from the hustle and bustle. Fortunately, the city offers numerous escapes too. Check into a spa or get a massage to melt the stress away. Or rejuvenate your skin by visiting a health and beauty clinic.
Check into a Hotel
Moving from your home into a hotel might be the best staycation idea ever. For one, you don’t have to think about your daily chores. For another, all the luxuries can be found in the hotel, from spas and pools to restaurants and shows. A hotel staycation allows you to bask in indulgence.
This coming holiday, if your plans aren’t yet set think about staying in the city and see how wonderful it could be.
